Jo's 20th Annual Pet Parade

  • Jo's Coffee 1300 South Congress Avenue Austin, TX, 78704 United States (map)

This is the place for dogs in drag. Our annual Pet Parade is beloved by all who have ever come across it – it’s hard not to love animals in outfits. Owner Liz created the annual Pet Parade to honor the life of her late brother and best friend Lyndon, who was a pet lover and founder of San Francisco pet store George. We parade down South Congress with a marching band and outfitted pets in tow, and arrive in the parking lot for a pet costume competition emceed by Lyndon’s twin and local celebrity chef Lou Lambert and judged by well known locals like Dale Watson, Andy Langer, Steve Wertheimer and others. Then we hang out for a few hours to eat, drink, and ogle a lot of great looking animals while a band or two plays. All proceeds from the entry fees benefit pet rescue non-profits, and vendor booths are provided to a blend of local adoption and rescue groups and pet related businesses.

There are no rules, dress your pet up in something cool. The funkier the better!

Pet Parade is open to all. Registration is only necessary to participate in the contest. To march without competing, just show up at the starting location (Hudson’s Meat Market at 1800 S. Congress) at Noon sharp.

During the Pet Parade, Austin Humane Society will be raffling off a 2018 Mazda MX-5 Miata Club Convertible donated by Roger Beasley Mazda Austin. Raffle tickets are $20 or three for $50. All purchases benefit the animals at AHS.

Winners will be announced on May 4. Tickets can be purchased here:
